Norman Engel is an extremely prolific fine artist specializing in contemporary modernism. His poetic work includes oil and acrylic paintings of modern abstract design, contemporary modernism, women, girls, and the nude figure. Norman's paintings are included in collections all over the world. His unique and exciting approach to painting is a manifestation of the influences of mid twentieth century popular culture, fine art, and design. As child of the 1960s and 70s, Norman produces art that is directly linked to the great era of mid to late 20th century design.
His style combines the traditions of the old masters with contemporary abstraction to create original canvases that are characterized by layered color, sensitive line, and classical composition. Subjects include paintings of women, nudes, portraits, still life, landscape, abstract, illustration, sketches and drawings.
Norman's studio is located San Antonio Texas. Although painting is his full time passion, he is also active in the fields of animation, illustration, graphic design, photography, and teaching. He currently holds a teaching position at The Art Institute of San Antonio. |
